Weed library - Sicklepod (Senna obtusifolia)


Sicklepod is a woody shrub which grows 1.5-2.5m tall and 1m wide.

The leaves are divided into 3 opposite pairs which are around 4 cm long and 2cm wide. They are rounded at the end and wedge shaped at the base.

Sicklepod's produce small yellow flowers that are 1 cm across and have 5 petals.

Control Tips

Gusto Woody and Noxious Weed Herbicide is registered for the control Sicklepod.


When using Gusto in a high volume spraying situation:


  • Spray all leaves and stems to the point of runoff
  • Spray actively growing plants up to flowering
  • Use a high quality non ionic wetting agent like Weed Forces Holdfast for best results helping to improve wetting and herbicide penetration of the plant foliage

  • DO NOT spray when the plant is stressed (i.e. Drought, physical damage, insect damage etc)
  • DO NOT apply to podding plants
